Why This Matters More Than It Looks

A pitch that looks perfect on television can still play inconsistently if its rootzone has not fully matured, which is why host venues typically complete their hybrid grass installation and growing-in period well before the opening match, rather than leaving it as a last-minute job. Players notice surface inconsistency immediately — a slightly soft patch changes how a ball rolls and how a studded boot grips, and at this level a bad bounce at the wrong moment is the difference between a clean pass and a turnover that ends up in the back of the net.
