The Final: MetLife Stadium, July 19, 2026

The 2026 World Cup Final will be played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey — just outside New York City. The decision to stage football's greatest single match at the largest stadium in the NFL was a statement of intent from FIFA: this tournament is going to be enormous in every sense.

MetLife's 82,500 capacity will create an atmosphere unprecedented in World Cup history. The proximity to New York City means the Final weekend will be one of the biggest sporting events the city has ever experienced.

The Azteca, meanwhile, deserves special attention as football history's most storied World Cup venue. In 1970, it hosted Pelé and Brazil lifting their third World Cup. In 1986, it was the stage for Maradona's genius against England. Now, in 2026, a new generation of stars will write their names into its walls.
